Men – come and sing with City Chorus

Why Sing?

Everyone sings.  Whether in the shower, on the football terraces, in church or in a Karaoke bar, who doesn’t want to let rip when the time is ripe? And who doesn’t feel better for it afterwards?

If that strikes a chord with you (pun intended), you could join our choir.

What’s so good about singing in a choir?

It’s fun, it’s challenging, you’ll learn a new skill and meet a lot of new people.  Everyone is working together to transform great music into breath-taking sound.

It gives your vocal chords a workout, it improves your breathing and lung power, and then there’s the endorphin rush which lasts for days.

What is City Chorus?

City Chorus is a community choir based in Letchworth.  Formed in 2010, it has now over eighty members including 18 men.  It has a busy schedule, performing at a wide range of venues and putting on its own concerts twice per year.

City Chorus is open to everyone and is run by an elected committee and appointed section leaders.  Section leaders hold section rehearsals in addition to main rehearsals to help with learning parts.

As well as singing, it has a strong social life with many non-musical events organised for its members, and it supports local charities.

City Chorus is ambitious and wants to develop even more.

City Chorus needs more men

Like all mixed choirs we need more men.  We want to double the size of our men’s section and we need basses and tenors.

To join City Chorus you don’t need to have any previous training or experience; you don’t need to be able to read music, and if you don’t know whether you are a bass or a tenor don’t worry, we’ll help to put you in the right place.

All we need you to do is to have a go.  So why not come along one evening and give it a go.

How to find us

We rehearse on Wednesdays in the Free Church, Norton Way South, Letchworth.  The Free Church is one of the few places that is big enough for us and it has great acoustics.

We start promptly at 7:45pm, so aim to arrive around 7:30pm.  The entrance is at the rear of the church.  We finish at 10:00pm.

When you first arrive our new members’ secretary will greet you and direct you to your section leader, who will help you settle in.

Then just enjoy.
